U.S.-Afghan development initiatives required many types of vehicles and machinery to function efficiently. Regular upkeep and repair were essential in Afghanistan’s challenging physical environment. Mechanical training programs sponsored by ICA and later USAID created new jobs and expanded the skilled labor force.
