Duang, 1937-1938

This American geologist carried out a survey of the country’s natural resources. Fox published his memoirs of travels on horseback with various tribes of northern Afghanistan. These recollections include vivid descriptions of traditional gold panning, falconry, and the ancient game of buzkashi. He returned to Kabul in 1944 as the U.S. Military Attaché.
