Since 1991, International Classroom (IC) has gained a reputation of excellence in service to schools by offering interactive, cultural presentations to classrooms in the District of Columbia. IC, as well as all of Meridian’s Educational Outreach programs, is offered as a free resource to District of Columbia Public School teachers. International Classroom trains volunteers of the international community (or Cultural Consultants) to give dynamic, interactive presentations about their countries of origin in second through twelfth-grade classrooms.

What is a Cultural Consultant?
Cultural Consultants are international members of the Metro DC community that are trained to give International Classroom presentations in the public and public charter schools. International students, embassy staff, and international professionals are trained by Meridian staff in interactive and cross-cultural teaching techniques in order to provide dynamic, interactive and fun presentations about their home countries to students. Cultural Consultants give one-hour presentations with the help of Meridian staff that drive them to the school and help them in the classroom.
