Salesforce Coordinator

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
Location: Washington, D.C.
Reports To: Chief of Staff, Executive Offices

Purpose and Description

Under the supervision of the Chief of Staff to the Executive Offices, the Salesforce Coordinator will play a role in making Meridian more effective and efficient by collecting, analyzing, and leveraging data across departments, automating reports and processes for data-driven decision making, and maintaining and optimizing Meridian’s Salesforce CRM. The Salesforce Coordinator must be the cheerleader, trainer, and implementer for the appropriate use of organizational resources across departments as well as to constantly and pro-actively support, promote, and provide training for interdepartmental collaboration primarily utilizing Salesforce CRM, and other appropriate tools as necessary.

Essential Functions

Interdepartmental Collaboration

  • In partnership with leadership, collect and analyze data to help the organization make data-driven decisions and track progress toward goals
  • Develop and implement innovative and appropriate means to close information gaps, utilizing the Salesforce database and other appropriate tools
  • Promote, demonstrate, and enable interdepartmental collaboration and resource sharing as a benefit for specific departments and as a necessity for the organization
  • Act as primary gatherer, and sharer, of organizational resources

Salesforce CRM

  • Define Meridian-wide and department specific user needs, and work with divisional leadership to deliver technical solutions and smooth data flow
  • Develop workflow rules and data entry standards as well as assist staff in maintaining clean data entry into system
  • Receive, evaluate, and enact change requests from users to determine cross-organization impacts (accounts, security profiles, approvals, etc.)
  • In collaboration with department heads, build custom reports and dashboards to share data across departments and teams
  • Integrate Salesforce with outside applications, such as Soapbox and mass email marketing system(s), ensuring user-friendliness and clean data
  • Understand user requirements and make configuration related changes in the application, such as: creating and adding new fields; editing page layouts; creating list views, reports and dashboards, workflow and validation rules; maintaining escalation rules and auto-assignment rules; etc.
  • Pro-actively troubleshoot system issues and review and analyze previously created custom fields, objects and triggers for suitability
  • Continuously update user training materials and train current and future staff on new functionalities, configurations, or system-related processes
  • Maintain high awareness of new features and updates, implement as needed and/or required, and communicate appropriately to staf
  • Provide daily support to users in a timely manner
  • Configure and clean database and data as needed

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1 – 3 years of Salesforce experience, with some Salesforce administration experience highly preferred
  • Experience with non-profit, association, or government agency preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and anticipate organizational needs and to translate those needs into system processes, straddling the IT and operations teams
  • Must have proficiency with Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Automation Tools, and Excel spreadsheets; Salesforce certifications highly desirable
  • Pro-active, entrepreneurial self-starter, and self-learner, who can find solutions, create custom systems, and further organizational collaboration
  • Familiarity with non-profits and how they implement and utilize Salesforce is highly desirable
  • Proven ability to develop and implement actionable work plans while simplifying processes from a user perspective
  • Superior verbal and written communication and technical writing skills
  • Proven ability to present information and trainings in a comprehensive yet engaging manner
  • Ability to effectively interact and work with diverse personalities and cultures
