IT Assistant, Operations

Salary Range: $45-50,000
Location: Washington, D.C.
Reports To: Director, Operations

Purpose and Description

Under the supervision of the Director, Operations the IT Assistant will perform a variety of duties to ensure efficient and effective delivery of technology services. The IT Assistant will help to maintain acceptable levels of equipment for office use, as well as setting up conferencing audio/visual (A/V) equipment and presentation software. As the point person for equipment and software usage and maintenance, the IT Assistant will provide onboarding support and training for new hires.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in organization’s event A/V setups
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and tracking of IT inventory
  • Manage relevant IT vendor relationships
  • Assist with AMEX and check payments to IT vendors
  • Configure/install computer hardware and software for all onboarding staff, and as needed
  • Provide IT orientations for new hires
  • Administrator for in-house phone extensions and staff cell phones (activation, billing, reporting, etc.)
  • Provide backup support to our remote IT helpdesk vendor

Other duties and special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree; two years of relevant experience; or, any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High level of professionalism and exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task several projects effectively and with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Knowledge of and experience with cloud-based platforms such as Office 365, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.
  • Familiarity with audio and visual equipment, e.g. projectors, speakers, Windows laptops
  • Demonstrated ability to handle crisis/high stress situations with ease and critical thinking
  • Strong leadership, proactive thinking, and project management skills
  • Knowledge of day-to-day IT operations
  • Understanding of Meridian’s broader objectives and programs
  • Tact, patience and flexibility in working with colleagues

Physical Effort and Dexterity

Ability to lift, move, and carry boxes up to 50 pounds for receiving, packing, and shipping.

Visual Acuity, Hearing, and Speaking

Excellent verbal and written command of the English language.

Environment and Scheduling

  • Interest in working with an international not-for-profit professional exchange organization
  • Interest in working within a diverse work environment

This position is classified FLSA non-exempt.
