Finance, Grants & Contracts Internship – GlobalConnect Division | Fall 2017

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Work closely with the Grants and Contracts Specialist and Program Accountant to develop and maintain a grants management database on the Salesforce platform.
  • Provide support to efforts of project staff and Finance relating to monitoring compliance with agreement terms and conditions
  • Collaborate with Finance department to develop analytical data for use in annual planning.
  • Obtain required closeout information from grantees and otherwise facilitate grant closeout process.
  • Monitor sub-awardees for deliverables, invoices, compliance with regulations, as well as terms and conditions.
  • Support Grants and Contracts Specialist in review of grant awards, agreements and amendments ensuring consistency and accuracy between budgets and statements of work.
  • Monitor submission of required financial and narrative reports for programs; review submitted reports and follow-up with program staff.
  • Track outstanding requests, pending awards documents, and amendments and follow up when necessary.
  • Work with Grants & Contracts Specialist to reconcile the program officers’ monthly credit card charges against ongoing projects
  • Assist in preparing prepaid card packages for participants and ELOs and collect the necessary back up documents.
  • Compile necessary information for GC presentations and training sessions.
  • Act as a liaison between Grants & Contracts Specialist and other GC team members and Grants & Accounts Manager regarding collecting signatures on required documents, delivering signed documents, making scanned copies of approved documents and any other tasks on as needed basis.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree focused on International Relations, Political Science, Non-Profit Management, Business, Finance or related field;
  • Familiarity and interest in with financial reconciliation and budgeting
  • Interest and familiarity with online research tools
  • Knowledge of general office procedures
  • Interest in global issues and international affairs and experience working with diverse cultures and languages
  • Strong organizational and writing skills
  • Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively with a team
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows based applications including Microsoft Word and Excel is mandatory

Commitment

  • We are looking for an intern that will commit to approximately 16 - 24 hours per week starting in late August-early September.

Compensation:

  • This internship is unpaid.  Meridian does provide a $7/day transportation stipend.
