Digital Communications Intern

Full-time. Primary focus on producing editorial content for social media, website, blog and marketing initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in championing the organizational content marketing strategy, collaborating with departments to ensure consistent and accurate delivery of content
  • Create compelling visual and editorial content that engages and resonates with Meridian’s segmented audiences; and explore new channels for developing new audience experiences
  • Manage daily social editorial accounts, including social content creation, editorial schedule and production timeline, social conversation monitoring and response, and social analytics measurement and evaluation
  • Conduct research to find news articles and stories relevant to Meridian’s mission and vision to post on social media platforms and invite conversation and interaction
  • Work with marketing team to develop and implement strategic social media plans for priority social media moments and/or promotional campaigns
  • Track social media interaction and audience growth, and provide weekly updates of changes and trends to share digital media expertise with colleagues
  • Measure and analyze effective approaches to content marketing efforts, particularly through SEO and analytics audits and evaluation
  • Leverage editorial competency and analytics assessments to determine what content should be kept, edited, rewritten or retired
  • Support live coverage of events, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Tweeting, YouTube/video streaming, still photography, videography
  • Grow Meridian LinkedIn content strategy, including but not limited to building an influencer list to monitor posts for re-sharing and solicit for guest blog contributions
  • Update, and occasionally generate, new content for website and blog, and promote new content in timely manner on social media
  • Proofread editorial content, including newsletters, press releases, marketing collateral and other materials

Qualifications:

  • Experience with website maintenance, social media platforms, multimedia and digital production, website writing and editing, creative/graphic design, digital campaigns; content monetization is a plus.
  • Ability to identify stories and elements with viral potential
  • Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data and translate into action plans to elevate digital engagement
  • Strong planning and project management skills, with ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and ability to deliver fast turnaround on deadline
  • Team-oriented and ability to work independently and in an office setting
  • Flexible and willing to take on tasks outside primary responsibilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or marketing; expertise in creative writing, visual design, technical writing or information management is a plus.
  • Interest in international affairs and diplomacy preferred but not required

Skills:

Basic HTML, WordPress, CMS systems (Salesforce and Meltwater preferred), Google Analytics and other tools for tracking online engagement, Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign and Illustrator), video editing, copywriting, content presentation and delivery.
